I'll try and keep this list up to date. Start at the top and you have your GM(s). Once a person has been a GM I'll drop them to the bottom of the list :)
  • Hardcorestew September 2008
Wasn't Chooi tyrant with me and andy the first week??

Apologies, I wasn't there that week so I wasn't sure. I've updated the list.
    Also I don't think I'm coming next week (30/09) so I won't be GM :)
  • GrimwoldGrimwold October 2008
Dean, Toby and Al were "masters" on 7th October...

John should also be added to the list... I think he's been every week since he started coming 6 weeks ago.

I've updated the list. Also added the new Richard as I think he's been for the last few weeks too :)

List updated and I've moved Kevin, Phil and RichardC out of the normal rotation since we've been all the way round now and labelled them as permanent reserves :)

I think it was discussed that you should be a GM this week, Eddy, since it's your last time with us... aside from that, PhilM, Toby, and RichardC are all still owed a second turn... plus PhilB should be on the rota now, since he's started coming regularly... then it's Stew and Chooi for their 3rd shout... (details here: http://magers.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=231)
Would this mean that with PhilB on the rota that he will have 2 consecutive weeks of GM to catch up with the rest? If that is the case if anyone joins in 6 or 12 months time, how many GM will they be owed?? Should a limit be set on the number of GM nights that a player will be owed??

Just some food for thought for the months to come.[/quote]
Stew made a good point in this weeks game thread, so I thought I'd cross-post it here and add my thoughts.

I kinda agree that people joining the group since we introduced the GMs wouldn't be expected to 'catch' up.... however at the time of writing, all those on the list above had been coming regularly before we started trialling the system... and missed their turns due to circumstances (unable to attend, were not aware, or forced to miss their turn)

My humble opinion is that new people could be added in at the point where a full rota has been finished.. then they will be able to take their turn along with everyone else.

    What does anyone else think?
  • brendannewell January 2009
How about if when it becomes clear that a person is a regular (as with Phil), they get added to the bottom of the list?

I agree, though maybe not at the bottom as it may then be a long while until they get a chance at being GM. Maybe some way of organising so that when a new person comes for the first time, they're placed at the bottom of the list and can climb their way up, but if they miss two weeks in a row they are struck off and get placed to the bottom again next time they come. It's probably not the easiest system to manage but it sounds fair.
  • Chooi January 2009
honestly I do not mind either way. when someone becomes 'regular', I am happy for them to go into next slot even assuming they have been there a few weeks.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
  • GrimwoldGrimwold January 2009
I've edited the list for yesterday's GMs and rotated it, so it should be easy to see from the top of the list who are GMs next. I took my brother off the list since he is only an occasional visitor and hasn't been able to make it for a while.

Hope this looks OK to everyone so far. Are people happy to continue with this system? I think we were initially only trialling it for a period of Months... so what do people think?
  • deanrthomasdeanrthomas January 2009
I think it is working OK.

It works best when people are organised and have prepared things in advance.

It would perhaps be helpful for the next scheduled GMs to confirm or not (de-confirm??) their attendance for the next session.
That way, the people further down the list have a chance to plan if necessary.

I agree this is a good idea... Probably would help if the weekly thread got posted a bit earlier, and listed the potential GMs

I must sincerely apologise to Gavin for not including him in the GM list yet.. How about if he is added near the top... perhaps to GM next week?
  • Have adjusted the GM list to be only paid up members :)
  • GrimwoldGrimwold August 2009
The list is getting a bit messy.. any objections to clearing it up a bit by deleting some of the historical info? keeping say the last 3 or 4 months??
  • brendannewell August 2009
    Fine by me :)
  • deanrthomasdeanrthomas August 2009
I was going to do exactly that, but didn't get round to it yesterday.

We probably don't need to save anything except the date of each person's last GM?
  • Enders Shadow September 2009
RichardC has announced his presence on 2nd and 5th Tuesdays - so will be here this week. So will now be a regular - just not every week. So I would suggest he stays in the system; it can be argued it's a bit unfair that he may GM every time he's here - but then it's sort of logical...
  • deanrthomasdeanrthomas September 2009
I don't think we've suggested taking anyone out of the rota?

As long as they've paid their fiver, they're in it for the year.
If they only turn up every 7 weeks and GM every time, I don't think that's a problem. It doesn't affect anyone else.

    Anybody disagree?

    True

It only reduces the amount of GM's you get in the year, effectively people in the rota who do not attend that often will sit at the top of the GM ladder for long periods whilst others may even GM 2 to 3 times in this time.

I think in the past people have commented not be included as they are going on Holiday or working away, etc... But haven't be removed from rota, just that when they reach the top they have been put on hold there until they next arrive at a session.

If people find they cannot attend that often and would like to play a game of their choice being in the GM rota is the best way to do it.
  • Fred November 2009
All, I hope to make Tuesday 24th November, but don't want to GM, as I was GM last time I attended in August. This doesn't seem fair, so I'll bow out of GM until I can attend more regularly.
  • deanrthomasdeanrthomas November 2009
    It's perfectly fair.
If you've paid up, you're entitled to your turn as GM.
It doesn't matter how much you attend.

    Bring some games!
  • Battlepuppy November 2009
I think I'm coning up for GM on Tues 24 Nov. I will be there plus have an option or two with me.

    Andrew
  • Fred November 2009
    Thanks for the encouragement Dean!
However I think my moral dilemma is eased by the fact that I want to play Dungeon Lords (which I don't own) and Andrew does aswell!
  • deanrthomasdeanrthomas March 2011
I've left Andrew and Inky in position on the GM list. Andrew lost his choice due to extra players turning up late so had to play a game to fit the players.
And due to Chooi's sporadic attendance the rest of us played his game.
  • GrimwoldGrimwold March 2011
I'm down as "pending"... but the club owes me for the handful of games I picked up at the auction (listed in another thread somewhere), so some of that could be netted off.
  • deanrthomasdeanrthomas March 2011
Yes, I've not seen you for a few weeks!

When our paths next cross I'll sort out payment for the games and your sub. B-)
  • GrimwoldGrimwold July 2011

I've updated the GM list for the last couple of weeks, so to the best of my knowledge it is correct.. .there may have been one or more others who picked on the 21st June. But I'm not sure who was there.

    • I added 28th June and 5th July... Herm also mentioned having Picked in a previous week, so I added that as the 21st June.

    • I'm down for having done 2 weeks on the run... basically I took Mansions of Madness last night (because Jaime had wanted to try it) and a ton of people wanted to play it. There was no-one there from the top of the list, and several people said they were happy for it to be their pick.. but since it's my game, I'm happy to take the hit.. especially since I had missed about a month.

  • GrimwoldGrimwold August 2011

Anyone know who the GMs were for 16th August... I wasn't able to go because Joseph was really cranky after his injections that day.

  • Simondorondo August 2011

Me, inky and don (I think)

  • Inky August 2011

I wasn't really GM as such last week, so I'd like another opportunity.

Me, John and Cathy were delayed by a traffic jam on the m60 so by the time we got there there was no option but to play a game amongst ourselves. I hadn't brought any games suitable for 3 so we ended up playing something else.

  • GrimwoldGrimwold August 2011

Inky, who was the GM at your table tonight? Other GMs were Bruce and myself.

  • deanrthomasdeanrthomas August 2011

    'twas I.

    I've updated the list. B-)

  • Chooi October 2011

ooh am top of list! Well, will come Tue 18th Oct next, night before flying off to Essen next day! Have Blood Bowl Manager preordered so hope to get it by then. If not will bring something else thing then. Cya all soon then.

hope helps folks plan GM next couple of weeks in meantime

  • Yanagion December 2011

    27th December:

With it being so close to Christmas and New Year's, only 4 people attended this evening:

    Andy Daniel Me Chooi

We started late, thinking more might arrive and not wanting them to be left out. In the end, we played one good game of Olympos (Chooi's choice as tonight's GM). Andy won the game but it was a very close one, despite Chooi's constant protestations that he was "so screwed" and that he was "last and so screwed" (various other phrases also followed, generally containing the words "so screwed"). Good game.

Howdy, Stranger!
